Centrifugal Pump - TKL EC Series

Flowserve Australia Logo
TKL’s EC Series is designed to handle large flow and high head conditions in mines and water transfer applications. The EC centrifugal pumps have a multistage, horizontally split-case configuration, making inspection and maintenance fast and easy. Additionally, accessing the common wear parts wouldn’t require removing the motor or the suction and discharge connections. Their design allows for a lower net positive head required and lower axial thrust. The EC pumps can also be mounted horizontally or vertically, giving more installation flexibility.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

Industrial Centrifugal Pumps

Fluid enters the suction line and falls on the impeller eye and is “centrifuged” (hence the name) to the impeller periphery, with assistance from the impeller vanes.
As the impeller rotates, it imparts kinetic energy onto the liquid surrounding it due to friction. The liquid moves towards the outer periphery of the impeller; its kinetic energy is then changed to pressure. The impeller has vanes separated by channels through which the liquid flows. Each channel has an increasing flow path area. As the flow path area expands, the liquid’s velocity decreases and the pressure increases.
For the EC pump with a multistage configuration, the process repeats as it goes through each stage until it reaches the discharge port.
